As mentioned in a previous post, we did not make it to fireworks this year b/c OG was ready for bed by the time they SHOULD have happened. I had been all excited about going to see them and sitting in the median on Wendover Ave and tailgating with friends ahead of time! OK, so maybe sitting in a median does not sound all that great or SAFE to you…but really it is fine. As I tried to explain to my friends, it is more of a large grassy knoll than a median…but yes, it IS right there on the MAJOR roadway. But that is just where you go to get the prime fireworks watching spot. Plus it is FUN! Some of my friends poo poo’ed the idea (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE…and I KNOW you are reading this…ha). But that was fine in the end…it was sooo hot outside, and so we got to spend a nice time INDOORS with AC and good food…NICE!
OK, so we missed the fireworks…and that was a good thing b/c they didn’t even START until 10 pm. They were scheduled for about 9:30 but a thunderstorm came though so they were delayed. Good thing we didn’t go to the Deadly Unsafe White Trash Fireworks Watching Median after all. THAT would have made for a LONG evening.
SO, we didn’t get to see them live & in person but we still did see them LIVE…well sort of…they ended up being live on the news. So we did get our fireworks after all, and in a much more safe non white-trash environment (unless you count the garbage bag hanging out on our front porch that needed to be taken to the can…yes, we do that a little too much, OOPS).
