Diva Dress-Up

Even on a sick week, she is still my little diva! :)

*This pic was taken this morning, so she is looking a lot better...more perky. She finally has her appetite back. Notice her watermelon shirt in honor of the upcoming holiday weekend. Next week we will have her red, white & blue included in Diva Dress-UP.

*Please ignore the trash bag on the front porch that needs to be carried out the can.
Yes, we are bad neighbors.

*Take note of the bottle of cough "meh-sin" (medicine) she is carrying around with her. She won't put it down, yet it is like pulling teeth to get her to take it.

Oh yes, and the socks with sandals...that is not very "Diva-like" you say? Well yes, I realize that...but thanks for pointing it out. She got some nice new shoes ($39 yikes) from MeMa and I didn't realize you needed to wear socks the first few days with new sandals to break them in (she had never worn socks with her cheapo Target sandals and was just fine). So we sent her to school in her sandals on day one and she came back with blisters all around her feet...she was walking on her tip toes b/c it hurt. Poor baby! We are bad...we'll know better next time!

I am not listening to you.

What I say: “OG, please don’t climb up on that bench OK?”
What she hears: “OG, why don’t you go climb on that bench.”

What I say: “OG, I told you not to get on that bench…please, will you get down for Mama?”
What she hears: “OG, look at you, good girl climbing up on that bench for Mama.”

What I say: “PLEASE get down NOW OG, that is not safe!!”
What she hears: “OG, just stay up there no matter what I say...afterall, *I* am sitting on this very same rickety rusty bench.”

YEP, she's DEFINITELY two and Miss Independent!...but hearing loss at such a young age? how sad...she must be one for the record books. ;)

You give me fever....FEE-VA!!!!!

OG has been a bit sick since Saturday. She started out with a small cough toward the end of last week. By the end of the day on Saturday she was all lathargic and sad. By Sunday she had a temp and the coughing was TERRIBLE.

Sooo, we went to the Dr yestetrday...we have ANOTHER ear infection, a BAD BAD cough & cold and some crazy diaper rash from the heat. POOR OG!

*This was taken in the Dr's office right before the melt-down of waiting for 50 MINUTES!!!!!

When we got home from the Dr all Og wanted to do was go "night night"...so she went. About an hour later I heard her fussing and went to check on her and she was covered in sweat and was burning up...her hair was all wet and her dress was wet too. I took her dress off of her and pulled her hair up to get it off of her neck. She was talking alot of nonsense (she was a little out of it) and kept saying "it ok...it ok". I think she was saying that b/c when she is in pain or hurts herself I usually say "It's OK...It's OK"....funny how she remembered that and was telling HERSELF that...but in a moaning type tone. I was worried about her, but then she rolled over to go back to sleep.

One hour later she woke up and was fine and ALL OVER THE PLACE singing and dancing...if my co-workers had seen that they would have thought I just called into work to play hookie yesterday...she didn't seem sick at all. ha

The newest dance craze...

It's hard to believe that 1 hour before this, OG had a 100 degree temp and the fever was just breaking...she was covered in sweat (hence the no clothing). Meds are good sometimes!...check out her little dance:

"wing a round a wosey"

"pocka pull o poseys"

"asses, asses" (hey, it's what she says)

"ah fa down"

That BITES!!

Poor OG, she got bitten AGAIN yesterday at school. This time BOTH levels of teeth show on her arm and it is bruised pretty bad. I don’t know what it is with these 1 & 2 year olds but they love to bite and boy do they have some sets of chompers on them.

OG has yet to be the biter (thank goodness), only the bitee (is that a word???). Poor little thing…I know her day will come though where she will probably bite someone. She sees everyone else doing it and probably thinks it is OK behavior. We have explained to her that biting 1) is “not nice” and 2) it “hurts and makes boo-boo’s” . Unfortunately am pretty sure she understands that second part pretty well by now from past experience.

*Can you see the bite marks on her arm? :(

The interesting part about all of this biting nonsense, is the letter they send home with your child (get out your magnifying glass b/c you have to read this):

As you can see there is an area to check whether your child was bitten or did the biting…then in the next breath it says “Always…thank you for your continued support!”…FUNNY! I guess that is their way of saying “please don’t yank your child out of daycare because he has been bitten 15 million times”…ha

Happy BELATED Father's Day!!!

Happy Father's Day!!!
(a little late) to all the Daddies, Daddies-to-be, Grandpa's, Papa's, Poppi's, Paw Paw's and of course Daddy Bears out there!!

We hope your day was great! Whether your kids still live with you or are in far away places, please know that they love you dearly!! Daddies are the BEST and if you are called Daddy by your little girl, you will be called Daddy forever!

Yummy Yum Yum!!

Believe it or not, at 2 years of age, OG has never had a lollipop or popsicle until last week! (she did try a fudge pop earlier in the year but didn't like it). There is no reason behind this...we haven't been trying to keep them away from her or were afraid to give them to her...we just never offered them to her. I guess that is a good thing.

We were at a party a few weekends ago when OG's friends Mom offered OG a popsicle...I declined b/c I just thought it would be messy and we were in someone else's home. The Mom was very worried that OG would get upset b/c she had already seen the popsicle and would see her child with it and want one. I then had to tell her that OG had no idea what a popsicle was. HA!

Now that I think about it, it does seem a little strange. We haven't given her lots of things...she has had chocolate here and there but not much...and she has never really had candy either...I guess b/c of the choking risk. She knows what candy IS but hasn't really had it.

So last week in a goodie bag she got at school from a classmates birthday party was a lollipop...So I thought I would let her try it. She LOVED it of course and kept saying "polly-pop"...it was pretty funny!

I also decided to try popsicles b/c the Dora ones were "buy one get one free" at the grocery...she loved those too.

So now she has had these sweet treats and really likes these things...she can have them here and there but it won't be a daily or even weekly thing I don't think. We'll see how that goes. Check in with us later to see how this goes. It is NOT a good thing that she doesn't like her toothbrush at all! Could be trouble!

School party pix...FINALLY!

OK, so the post about OG's school party won't let me post pix to it...so here they are by themselves!! CUTE!

*Notice the little kid to the right of OG in the picture. He has nothing on his plate.
Poor guy is lactose intolerant so he couldn't have cheetos or cupcakes...he had to have fruit.

I'm TWO!!!

OG is officially a 2 year old! I cannot believe it!! She had her school party yesterday and it was lots of fun. Daddy, MeeMa & Myself were in attendance. MeeMa (my Mom) got there first. Once she was there OG did not want to just sit and hang out with the other kids for story time. She was up and around and all over the place TOTALLY showing off. When Daddy came in, it was even crazier. Then when *I* arrived with the cupcakes, FORGET ABOUT IT! There was no taming this wild beast. All she could say was “cake, cake”. We had to wait for the juice and you would have thought we had taken her first born…she was not happy and she was ready for cupcakes. Soon the juice arrived and we all prepared to eat our snack. Cupcakes & cheese doodles as promised. HOW NUTRITIOUS!

All the kids sat down at the little table and prepared to feast (all except for Isaiah who is lactose intolerant and couldn’t have anything, so he had to wait for chips & fruit…Poor Isaiah). Her teachers said to the kids “let's put our hands together and pray before we have our snack”. All of the little kids did this (in their own little way) except for OG who was already picking at her cupcake. OOPS! Bad parents! But I will give her a little credit…they did not pray before meals in her previous room so she is just not used to it in this room.

After the prayer they dug in…most of them just wanted the icing and cheese doodles, and I think a fun time was had by all. While eating, OG would get up every few minutes and run around the room…it was NUTSO. She was supposed to be sitting nicely and eating with everyone else…that’s my girl, the rebel. She was so excited and wound up that she couldn’t stand it. I was afraid that she did this all the time but her teachers said no…it was just because on this day she had an audience and was out of her element. OK, we’ll let it slide this time.
During the party time, all of her old teachers and other teachers at the school came by to say HI and wish her Happy Birthday so that was nice…every teacher there seemed to know her name. I questions whether that is a GOOD thing or a BAD thing…ha

After this birthday snack, we decide to go ahead and let her go home with us. No sense in leaving her there and upsetting her and then coming back to get her 2 hours later. Plus it was her birthday so we wanted to spend some time with her.

All in all it was a good day! I can’t believe it is over. Happy Birthday Baby Girl! We are so proud of you!!!

PS. I am not able to post pix of this WONDERFUL EVENT for some reason I am not too happy about...I am so bummed. I will keep trying so check back again!

It's Party Time!!

OG had her birthday party this weekend and had such a good time! We had close to 50 guests (adults & kids) and it was awesome! The food was good (thanks to the grandparents who slaved in the kitchens) and the weather was fantastic.

She OFFICIALLY turns the big TWO tomorrow, June 13th! I can't believe she has been with us for 2 years. We are so proud of her and love her so very much! It was so nice to have most of our dear friends & family with us to help celebrate!

Enjoy some of these photos...more will come after we download them later this week. Be sure to sing the Birthday Song at 10:46 a.m. on Tuesday! I will be attending a shool birthday party for her that day complete with store bought cupcakes and cheese doodles (the menu items of choice for her school parties...they won't allow you to bake anything...THANK GOODNESS!)

We love you Baby Girl!!!!!!

*And I am soo sorry your birthday sometimes gets not so much attention since I came along and my birthday is only 5 days after yours and everyone is all worried about getting my parties together and planning and cooking....wheewh!, that is tiring...no wonder you always get shafted. I love you anyway!

Sweet dreams Big Girl!

Without enough sleep, we all become tall two-year-olds. ~JoJo Jensen

OG is REALLY a big girl NOW! On Friday she moved to her toddler bed!! YEAH OG!

Here's how it went down:
Last week I heard about this neat website called craigslist.com VERY cool! For those of you that don't know about it, it is kind of like eBay but for stuff that is in your area. You can search by city and no money is exchanged online. You work that out between yourself & the seller and meet them at some neutral area in your town to make "the exchange". After hearing about craigslist.com last week, I went to check it out. One of the first things I saw listed for our city under the baby/toddler category, was a toddler bed for $50 that had barely been used. I knew we would need one in a few months so I thought "what a deal, I am going to go get this thing". So I contacted the seller and went to pick it up on Friday night. She had 2 beds to get rid of...one that was put together already and one that was not...she advsied that I take the one that was already assembled because it was a pain to put it together. Sooo, off I was with this big toddler bed in the back of the Volvo cruising around town.

I got it home and brought it in and hubbie wondered where in the heck we were going to put this bed. Me being an impatient only child, I said "In OG's room of course". her wanted to take it apart and put it in the attic or something but i vetoed that. ha So, we loaded it into her room and re-arranged some things in there. As soon as it was in her room OG LOVED IT! It didn't have the mattress in it yet but she was crawling in and out of the bed and laughing and having a good time!! So then I decided, lets just try it with the mattress in it and test it out. So I took the mattress out of her crib and put it on her toddler bed. BOY, was OG excited about that! She just kept crawling on and off and on and off. She was having a BIG TIME!The big test was in an hour or so when it was bedtime. I was a little worried about how she would react and what she would do...I was sure she would be getting in and out of it all night. But NO! She was such a good girl. She stayed in the bed all night and did a great job. She has so far slept in it for 3 nights and 4 naps and didn't get out at all (although I am not even sure she KNOWS she can get out...ha, (even though she had climed on and off all day).

Our baby really isn't a baby anymore...she will be TWO next week and is in her big girl bed already!!! We are so proud of her...and to think we were worried when she was born at 2 lbs 9 oz and they said she could have some rough times. No way Jose'...she is OG and she is destined for big things...and the Big girl bed is just the first big thing!
