Floods and famous relatives...

Well I know everyone is happy to have lots of the rain gone. We have had rain all week until last night! And it was monsoon'ish (is that a word?) and crazy...and we had tornadoes etc. But we needed it so I can't complain. I am just glad we were not in Central FL last week where we have lots of fmaily & friends (I used to live there too). It was NUTS and there was crazy flooding etc in central FL.

This is just a LITTLE flooding I am going to share with you...but the main reason I share this is b/c my Daddy is in this picture posted by The Orlando Sentinel!!! And knowing my Dad (that sounds weird to type DAD, I ALWAYS call him Daddy, even at 35), he probably called the Orlando Sentinel to tell them he would be walking by a flood area and that it would be a great photo opp. :) You know I love you Daddy...but it is true. He never turns down the opportunity for some media or a cool photo opp!!

A Mickey D's Bday Party...who would have THUNK it!

I have to admit...when we were first invited to a Mc D's bday party I thought "hmmm....this might be a nighmare...and GERMY" (not that a bouncy place is less germy, I am sure it is WORSE). I hadn't been to a Mc D's bday since I was maybe 7 in 1980. I still remember it well...the orange drink and my little happy meal. And at that time the playland thingie's were not all over at every restaurant, so there was not much to do. So in planning for this party I figured it would be OK but we would be out of there in no time.

Well, it was actually fun event! And a pretty good deal for the parents of the bday boy! Apparently you pay something like $75 and you get 1.5 hrs for a party....a Happy Meal for each kid (they can pick nuggets or burgers)....I think you can invite up to maybe 10 friends....each kids get a drink (not just the orange drink anymore)...and a neat hat thingie. They also provide you with a birthday cake and balloons etc. The cake did taste a little like it was previously FROZEN, but it was not bad. Oh yeah, and you also get some kind of goodie bag...but they forgot to put them together for this party, so I am not sure what they consisted of...but I am sure they were better than the crap I give out for OG's bday (sorry those of you who got the crap from us). The place was clean and we had loads of fun!

So I feel like a bad person now for poo poo'ing the Mc D's party...it really was a blast. The kids ran around and played and got all sweaty and tired and were ready for naps afterwards. And $75 TOTAL...for party, facility, cake and food! What a deal. We spent $200 to rent OG's bouncy place...$50 on a cake...$40 on pizza....$10+ on plates, cups, napkins etc....so $300 right there not including other junk we had to purchase for the party. HMMM??? Maybe a Mc D's bday is in the future for us afterall. Get out your Germ-X people.

Goose Talk

On the way to school last week OG noticed that there was a dead goose in the road. He wasn't smushed or anything (thank goodness) but he was clearly not alive anymore. We of course were stopped at a stoplight and he was right beside us on the road. She asked me what was wrong with him and if he was dead. I told her that yes he was dead but that he was in heaven now and was ok. To which she promtly responded "MOM, he is NOT in heaven, he is RIGHT THERE dead on the road...can't you see him!!??"

I guess she told me.

For all the Mom's with little girls going to kindergarten...

A co-worker sent this to me today and it made me cry just reading it. OG has 1 more yr till she goes off to "big school", but she talks about it now like it is next week. I don't know how I will make it through that first day sending her off. I will need a "mental health" day off work For Sure!
Enjoy.

I Trust You'll Treat Her Well...

World, I bequeath to you today one little girl in a crispy dress.. with two blue eyes...and a happy laugh that ripples all day long, and a batch of light blonde hair that bounces in the sunlight when she runs. I Trust You'll Treat Her Well. She's slipping out of the backyard of my heart this morning and skipping off down the street to her first day at school. And never again will she be completely mine...Prim and proud, she'll wave a young and independent hand this morning, and say goodbye and walk with little-lady steps to the nearby schoolhouse...Gone will be the chattering little hoyden who lived only for play, and gone will be the delightful little gamin who roamed the yard like a proud princess with nary a care in her little world. Now, she will learn to stand in lines...and wait by the alphabet for her name to be called...She will learn to tune her little-girl ears for the sound of school bells, and for deadlines...She will learn to giggle and gossip... and to look at the ceiling in a disinterested way when the little boy across the aisle sticks out his tongue. Now she will learn to be jealous...and now she will learn how it is to feel hurt inside...and now she will learn how not to cry. No longer will she have time to sit on the front porch steps on a summer day and watch while an ant scurries across a crack in the sidewalk...Or will she have time to pop out of bed with the dawn to kiss lilac blossoms in the morning dew. Now she will worry about important things...like grades...and what dresses to wear...and whose best friend is whose. Now she will worry about the little boy who pulls her hair at recess time... and staying after school...and which little girls like which little boys...And the magic of books and knowledge will soon take the place of the magic of her blocks and dolls. And she'll find her new heroes. For five full years I've been her sage and Santa Claus...her pal and playmate...her parent and friend. Now, alas, she'll learn to share her worship and adoration with her teachers (which is only right). No longer will her parents be the smartest, and greatest in the world. Today, when the first school bell rings, she'll learn how it is to be a member of the group...with all its privileges, and, of course, its disadvantages, too. She'll learn in time that proper young ladies don't laugh out loud...or keep frogs in pickle jars in bedrooms...or watch ants scurry across the cracks in a summer sidewalk...Today, she'll begin to learn for the first time that all who smile at her are not her friends. That "the group" can be a demanding mistress... and I'll stand on the porch and watch her start out on the long, long journey to becoming a woman. So WORLD, I BEQUEATH TO YOU TODAY ONE LITTLE GIRL in a crispy dress, with two blue eyes, a happy laugh that ripples all day long, and a batch of light blonde hair that bounces in the sunlight when she runs.
I TRUST YOU'LL TREAT HER WELL.

I think the princess dress makes these pix even MORE hilarious than they would normally be! Obviously hubbie recently purchased a new PS3 (Play Station 3) and the Rock Band game to go with it! Good times...more pix to come!

Outside Dining At Its Finest!

OG received a neat otudoor picnic table for kids for her bday in June....she loves to eat at it on the deck. On this particular day she wanted to have her breakfast out there...at 6:50AM...on a school day...Lightnin' McQueen placemat and all. The pix aren't great, but you can tell she is having a good time!!

Swimmin' Time

Where have I been? BUSY..so here are some pix of OG at the pool. She now goes totally under on her own while out in the pool (not just on the edge or on the steps) and walks around on the bottom and splashes around not a care in the world...and at a baby shower this wknd for my BFF's 2nd baby, OG went off the diving board! About 50 thousand times! So cute! I know this may sound prety basic...but she has been a little shy with the water this yr for some reason...but now she is BACK!
