I am OG's "most favorite Mommy".  She told me so.  Wheewh..I am glad I made the cut.

Spelling Words

When I was in first grade, I dont think I knew much about reading and writing.  I am sure I knew a few words, but not a lot.

This week, OG's spelling words are words I am pretty sure I did not have to know till at least 3rd grade or so.  Her words are: transportation, past, present, zero and between.  WOW! And it is Tuesday PM and she already knows how to spell them all.

She also brough home a sight words sheet.  It is lists of words she should be able to read by certain times in her 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade years.  I quized her tonight.  She missed 2 of the ones she needs to know by the end of 1st grade, 2 of the ones she needs to know by the end of 2nd grade, and 3 of the ones she needs to know by the end of 3rd grade.  And each of those lists has maybe 60+ words on it.

Is she smart? I say so!

someone else in my bed

Hubbie has been out of town...and I have someone new in my bed.  OG to be exact. :) 

I can count maybe on 2 hands the number of times she has slept in our bed (obviously we are not a family bed family) . And maybe 70% of those are in the last 6 months.  I told OG she could pick a night to sleep with me.  She chose Tuesday...AND because of a storm, she chose last night too.  LOL. It was nice having her there, even if she does snore, grind her teeth and sleep almost right up next to me in a king sized bed.

Anyone hungry? OG has a few suggestions...

We had some friends over for dinner the other night...and while we were dining (the kids had already eaten), OG decided to create a menu for us for our next meal.  Can you TELL we live in the south?  HAAA

(translation: menu - cake, pie, shrimp, meat, ham, bacon, eggs, grits, Cheerwine)

Sprinkler Fun

Normally I would freak out if OG came into the house all soaking wet in her clothes after running in the sprinkler.  Yesterday? I didn't.  It was kind of somehting that just happened.  We were watering the yard after having seed put down.  Sprinklers were on...OG went through...and DADDY (shocker!) even went through with her.  Just some good old fashioned fun on an early fall afternoon!  Always good ot be a kid!
