Diva Dress-Up #2

I am going to TRY to post Diva Dress-Up on Friday’s from now on as a sort of recap of the week. Most of this weeks outfits aren't anything SPECTACULAR but hey, at least I took some pix. So here are a few outfits from the week!

Happy Friday!

SHOOSE!!

According to the movie Steele Magnolia’s “The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize”. Being a female, I TOTALLY agree with this. Everything I know about shopping I learned at an early age from my Mom (hide the bags in the trunk until the man of the house is down for a nap, then run out and get them and hide them in the closet etc). Then about age 12 my step-mom came along and she taught me even more and introduced me to The Limited (man I LOVED those oversized sweaters & leggings...I miss my Outback Red!). Thanks ladies for the education!! (Although hubbie & my bank account probably don’t thank you.)

I love SALES! Not just when something is ON sale…but FOR Sale!! ha
As we already know Target is one of my FAVES…but I love clothes stores and shoe stores just as much. Something about the smells and lights just pulls me in.

I think shoes and purses are my downfall! I don’t even KNOW how many pairs of shoes I own or how many purses I have clogging up my closet.

OG is already well on her way to having tons of shoes. She only has a size 3 baby foot and she is a shoe queen. Those toddler shoes are just the cutest things ever and you HAVE TO buy them!

One of OG’s new favorite words is “SHOOSE” (thank goodness we have moved on from “NO”). She says “Baby’s shoose” (as in HER shoes…she calls herself BABY), “Mommy’s shoose” and “Daddy’s shoose”…it is so cute!

Last night we were in Belk for “just a sec” (yeah right) and I had to peek over at the shoe dept because I have a gift card I found that was left over from Christmas. OG loved all of the shoes and had fun picking them all up off of the displays. I finally found a pair of shoes that were $50. An oh so cool pair of cork wedge sandals…straight from the 70’s but now back in style!! YEAH! So I had a $10 coupon and this gift card that I thought had maybe $20 or so left on it. Turns out I didn’t have to pay anything for the shoes and I even have $16 left on the gift card! I was so excited and OG seemed excited for me!! I showed her my purchase and she said “Mommy’s Shoose”. Yes in-deedy! These are Mommy’s “shoose”!

Night Night

On this day, OG was so tired she didn't even make it into bed. She went into her room and when we came in a few minutes later this is what we found:

Sleep tight baby girl...we love you!!!

Dancin' Queen

I love to watch OG dance. She is sooo funny!

Here are some pix I had to share...they are a little dark and some out of focus but you still get the idea. Sometimes if you click on them they will get bigger.
CUTE!

"Go OG, Go OG"

PS. Check out Bailey hiding under the table in the background of the first pic...he looks a little scared to move onto the "Dance Floor".

BUST A MOVE!

Diva Dress-Up (installment #1)

My Dad has said that he and some other family members want weekly updates of what OG is wearing. I know I post pix of her all the time, but I guess I need a post specifically dedicated to her clothing.

To make him happy I have decided to post at least once a week about her clothes and include pictures of her wardrobe. For now it will be called “Diva Dress-Up”.

Here is your first installment!!
These are some photos from the weekend. Like every good fashion model, she has her shades to hide her eyes from the glaring lights of the paparazzi (aka: Mommy). Every toddler who knows good fashion this spring is dressed in casual chic attire with ribbed tights and colorful sweaters.

When going out on the town, Miss Fashionista, chooses a fur trimmed winter coat and a LOVERLY smocked dress. Smocked dresses are VERY expensive, and if you don't have one then you are not a fashion Diva! (Good thing I have a friend who gave me this one for OG as a hand-me-down....ha...I am not paying $70 for a dress, are you crazy?!?!)

The next big thing...

Ok, so maybe I am onto something. In my previous post, I commented about how OG sometimes would rather play with common household items, instead of her real toys.

After reading my post, a friend (HI Ilaria!) sent an interesting article to me about children and toys. It speaks to the fact that better toys for kids are common household items that stimulate their brains and their senses, etc. It says you should keep a basket of these items readily available for your child to explore.

Here is a snipit from the article:
The Treasure Basket is a medium, low and rigid-sided round or oval basket, into which is placed 60 to 100 natural and household objects of your choice. The objects might range from a pine cone, shell or medium-sized pebble, to a garlic press, bottle brush or leather purse.

Did you see that? It said GARLIC PRESS! GARLIC PRESS! HOW WEIRD IS THAT!! *I* mentioned a garlic press in my post about things I needed to get for OG…and I was actually just joking! What are the chances!???

HMMM!?!? I need to go work for Mattel or something! Forget Beanie Babies, Barbie or Sponge Bob…the new must have, all the rage item for 2006 should be the Garlic Press!!!!!!!!!

Target...stock your shelves now!!!

Toys Toys Everywhere...but I prefer a BOX!!

Why is it that kids like to play with the weirdest things? They have all these FANCY SMANCY toys that light up, spin around, make sounds and practically pick themselves up and jump back into your toy box when it is time to clean up...but does OG want to play with these? YES, sometimes...but if she sees a box and some plastic spatulas and a bowl, FORGET about those REAL toys!

I should just take her to the Dollar Store for some cheap cooking utensils and pull up to the back of the liquor store for some good boxes!! I can see her letter to Santa now:

Santa,
I have been a good girl this year!

Please bring me some slotted spoons, a garlic press and a medium size Jack Daniels Box from the ABC Store. Oh yes, I would also like some TV boxes from Best Buy and some empty toilet paper rolls.

I have left out some milk for you (or you can drink the Jack Daniels that came out of my box, but be careful, you should not "drink & fly") and a carrot for Rudolph.

Love,
OG

Happy BELATED St. Patty's Day!

We hope everyone had a great St. Patty's day!

OG of course was decked out in her green!
ENJOY!

Maybe we don't need a housekeeper afterall.

I have always thought it would be nice to have someone to take care of my house and clean for me. I feel more that way since OG came along...and even more so NOW since she is all over the place as a toddler. I feel like I just don't have enough time in the day with working outside of the home. I leave the house about 7:20 every morning and I don't return until at least 5:30 everyday. From 5:30 until 7:30 or 8:00, it is OG time. We play, we eat, we spend time together as a family. When she goes to bed it is then time to collapse and have some "down time" and maybe get in some good reality TV until we go to bed about 10:00.

Like many other folks, we do try to get some cleaning done on weekends during nap times, but there just does not seem to be enough time. We need to Swiffer up the tumbleweeds of doghair all over the hardwoods, vacuum the area rugs, clean the bathrooms, clean the kitchen counters & floors, do a gazillion loads of laundry, Swiffer some more, dust the furniture, put away toys, Swiffer even more....you get the picture.

Hubbie & I have been chatting...maybe next spring when we are trying to sell our house, we will have someone come in once or twice a month to do a good cleaning to keep everything in tip top shape for selling it. Boy, I wish I could have that person now...

But in the meantime...as far as cleaning ladies go, I think THIS ONE is pretty cute! I'll keep her!She even loves to Swiffer...and we don't have to pay her. Not a bad deal!!!

We have FRIENDS!

I am so glad to say that OG has friends!! We went to a few parties this weekend and there were so many cute babies & toddlers all around! I have always worried that OG wouldn't have any friends but I am happy to report that she sure does!! YEAH! Here are some of the little munchkins she hung out with this weekend! SO cute!

OG "be flippin"

This morning when I dropped OG off at school one of her teachers was in the front lobby. So instead of taking OG back to her room, I just handed her off to her teacher who was there. I advised her that OG woke up very early today (this is unlike her, we usually have to wake her up) and that she had been in a bit of a fiesty & fussy mood. To preface, lately she has been a bit fiesty...I told another one of her teachers this the other day and we figured it must be the terrible two's coming early. Well, after I mentioned this morning that OG was having a bad day already, her teacher said "yeah, the other teacher told me that her Momma had say that she be flippin at home lately".

HUH???!! Ohhhhh-Kaaaayyyyy!

I hope OG's next words are not "Momma, you be flippin. What up wit chu?"

OG the "Un" Goddess

We had a new word today! "Un"...as in "The UN is shining bright today." If you haven't guessed it already, this new word is SUN. Last week sometime, driving home from daycare, the sun was in our eyes. In a weird way this was a good thing. I am LOVING that it is staying lighter longer now. A few months ago, it was dark when we got home at 5:30...now it is light till about 6:30! YEAH! So anyway, the sun is glaring in our eyes and OG is squinting. I tried to talk to her about the sun and how bright it was and point to the sun in the sky (while still trying to drive down the road without running off of it because I can't see). I am saying "look at the SUN, the SUN is bright"...all the time thinking, she has NO CLUE what I am talking about or what I am pointing to because DUH...SHE can't see.

WELL, this morning on the way to school, it was a bit cloudy but some light is peeping through the clouds. We are jammin out to Big Girls Don't Cry, her FAVORITE song on her mixed CD, and all of a sudden I hear "Un, Un, Un"...and she is pointing to the sky. Low and behold, there was the sun and she knew what it was. I was so proud. She is smart I tell you!

Please don't squeeze...uh, STEAL the Charmin!!!

You know how you you are always missing the match to a pair of socks, and lids to tupperware and that one glove? You always seem to be using the last paper plate, drinking the last beer or finishing up the last roll of toilet paper? Ever wonder where all of the things go?

There has always been speculation that a monster hides in your laundry room and steals your socks. I have never seen him but I can believe that he exists. *I* have evidence that a "monster" lives in MY bathroom and steals my toilet paper. Really!!! I saw it for a BRIEF moment the other day and managed to catch it red-handed with a little bit of shaky camera action.

It is not longer an urban legend...here it is in the flesh:
