One little "OG" jumping on the bed...she fell off and broke her head!

We had our first official boo boo last week. OG fell off of her glider chair in her bedroom onto the floor. She hit her head believe it or not, on a wand that you blow bubbles through. The little ridges on the edge just happened to hit her in the right place on her forehead. It barely bled and she only cried for a moment, then she was fine. MOMMY on the other hand was a little upset and worried, but she seemd OK. We have been putting neosporin on it every day to help it heal faster and most importantly to prevent scarring! ha

Who knew bubbles could be such a safety hazzard!! Wear your hard hats people!!

Happy Mardi Gras!!!

OG wishes you a Happy Mardi Gras!!! She was having a good time with the beads this weekend. She put them all on one strand at a time…then would get mad because she couldn’t get them off of her. I would help get them off…and then one by one they would go back on. This cycle of on/off lasted about 15 minutes. It’s amazing the things that will keep kids busy!

So, I guess we need to be thinking QUICKLY about what to give up for lent. HHHMM?? It is so hard and I am not sure what I am willing to give up. I guess I could give up blogging for a few weeks. “Please, Please don’t give up your OG blog” you say??? OK, I won’t. I know you need your weekly OG fix!!

Maybe I will give up some kind of food I love a lot…or eating lunches out…???? Need more time to think about it.

What could OG give up? Her Baby Einstein videos? That would be a combo “giving up” for both her & us…she watches them (although not obsessively) and we sometimes need them to entertain her for a few minutes while we get something done. OK, so maybe no to that one too.

I will ponder it a little longer and get back to you if we decide to give up something good! Ha

So “Laissez Les Bontemps Roulez” as the French say...or “Let the Good Times Roll” as we say! It’s Mardi Gras!!!

And NO she did not have to “flash” to get those beads. Although she will lift up her shirt and show you her belly button if you ask!!!

And the word of the day is...NO!!!

I remember it well...seeing the ultrasound of OG and thinking "I will be the best parent ever". I thought I would raise a child the right way and be a role model for all parents. Little did I know how hard it would be. Sometimes I just don't know what to do when OG acts crazy, it makes me so frustrated...and sometimes it is just FUNNY when she acts crazy. I try not to laugh because THAT is not good, but sometimes it is hard.

She has a great vocabulary. Her Dr's have said she is above her adjusted and actaul age with her communication skills. HOWEVER, with all those great communication skills the word of the day...wait week, hhhhm?...hold on, month, YES, the word of the month is NO!

"NO, NO, NO!!" That is about all that comes out of OG's mouth lately. It is her new favorite word. I can ask "Did you have fun at school today?" and she will say "NO"...OK, new question, "You are eating so well, do you like your dinner?"..."NO". UH, OKAY!! ANY question you ask her has a NO answer. She used to just shake her head "NO"...then she did the shake and say "NO" combo...now it is just plain old "NO". She CAN say yes by the way, it just doesn't have the same ring to it I guess.

Come to think of it, "NO" was probably her word before she was born. I remember eating something crazy and she would protest by kicking me. She was just the size she is in the ultrasound pic above...fiesty from the get-go. Now she just protests when I put something in front of her to eat. "Here's your FAVORITE OG , you LOVE it...want some?"..."NO!"

Oh well, at least she is talking...I think it is funny sometimes, but I can't wait to hear more words. This would be nice: "Why yes Mommy, I had a spactacular day at school. Sean poopied in his pants and we had a well balanced meal for lunch and I am sooo ready to eat the gourmet meal you prepared me for dinner."

GOOD TIMES!

Happy Valentines Day!!

We had a great Valentines Day. We made Valentines for all of OG's little classmates and took them to school with a fun foam puzzle for the bath/pool attached (purchased at the Target DOLLAR SPOT of course...4 for $1 thank you very much!). Her class had a party and we donated Cheetos (Yummy trans fat). She was all decked out in her red heart socks, red hair bow (of course) and her cute Valentines t-shirt (yes, also from Target.) SO CUTE!

When I picked her up she had a bag of goodies and Valentines from many of her classmates. Me being the stressed out mother that I am wondered 1) did she not get a Valentine from every kid because they all didn't do Valentines and their Mom's were SLACKERS unlike moi OR 2) did she not get a Valentine from every kid because some of them don't like her?? Silly I know but I am already at the stage of worrying about if she will have friends and will they come to her birthday parties etc. BUT, I need to be logical...these kids are between 12 & 20 months for goodness sake...I am sure Ella or Jacob didn't say to their Mommies "I am not too fond of that OG...lets not give her a Valentine" (at least I HOPE not).

THEN, I think of the poor Mom's who forgot to get Valentines and they received all of these goodies from other kids and then THEY feel bad because they think the other Mom's think they 1) don't like their kids or 2) that they are slacker Moms. I was NOT going to let that be ME so you bet your diaper covered bootie that I got those Valentines and got them early! I was NOT going to be THAT Mom who FORGOT. Thank Goodness!

Doctor, Doctor, Give me the news...

Well, we certainly had an eventful weekend. Friday around 11:00am I got a call from OG's daycare that she was blue. Sometimes she can be slightly blue in the hands and feet when she gets chilled but Dr's have always said not to worry about that. THIS was different, it was all over her body and her lips were blue. She was active and in good spirits and eating…all seemed fine. I told daycare she was probably just cold and to put her jacket on her. Then I started thinking about it and got worried and I called her Dr and they said to bring her in…by the time I got to her school (about 15 mins later) she was fine and pink again…we went in to the Dr and got seen immediately. They had no clue what it was and advised us to go to Moses Cone Hospital and stay for 24 hrs so they could monitor her…they told us not to go home and to go straight there…when we got to the Peds Floor they were ready for us and she had to be hooked up to wires and wear a little tiny hospital gown and be weighed on the OH SO FAMILIAR scale like from the NICU. It was sad, scary, frustrating and brought back MANY MANY NICU memories. SO, they wanted to watch her and monitor her oxygen levels, heartrate etc…so we stayed in the hospital from 12 noon Fri till 12 noon Sat.

They did bring her toys and things to play with. There was a cool playroom with lots of neat stuff. It was all I could do to not challenge hubbie to a game of air hockey on the adult size table they had in there!! AWESOME! But I refrained. They also had some fun little cars that we were able to push her in around the ward.

She was of course the beauty of the Pediatrics ward! ha Everyone kept stopping in to see her to look at her curls & eyes. She made lots of friends!

So, we didn't get much out of our visit than the reassurance that she was basically OK. They said she was one for the books because they had no clue what it was…they just sent us on our way and mentioned she might have an immature circulatory system still and blah blah blah. One Dr also asked me if anyone in my family had migraines…I said that my Dad & I did. He said he was not sure if it was related but migraines are vascular and restrict blood flow etc and he wondered if she had them etc and that casued the blueness...far fetched but HEY, I'll take it if that is an explanation. Although I wouldn't wish those horrid migraines on ANYONE! Especially my baby girl! YUCKIE!

ANYHOO…we know nothing and they said to just keep an eye on it.

Well, thanks for the nice hospital stay and good hospital food (I actually do like it believe it or not). It was a nice facility...even though our "beds"(reclining chairs) were not so great. It is fun to sometimes stay away from home and be taken care of with free food and no house to clean...unless it is to the tune of a $2,000 + bill and your child is hooked up to monitors. NOT so fun!!
