WOWZA! We got about 8" of snow on Fri and Sat! For folks in NC that means SNOWED IN for a few days! For those of you in FL that means you are trapped for the rest of the winter. For those of you in places like Main and Vermont that means you received something like a rain storm. Anywho...whatever you think of it, it CAN be fun.
OG played with our neighbor friend yesterday, then her BFF from school was brought over by her dad in his 4 wheel drive (they live less than a mile away) and they got to enjoy the snow and sled and have a good time. They then got cold and came in to play for a while. Then OG went to her friends house and they got to play with another friend who lives a few houses down from her, who is also in their class.
She came home a few hours later and took a good ole nap! Then she was at it again. We had the neighbors and their kids over for a "bring whatever is in your fridge/cabinets dinner" and it was so much fun. OG was good with the neighbor friend who she had sledded with earlier too(who is a year and a half younger than her) and they played all night long...and FINALLY passed out on the couch close to 11 I think. We all continued to hang out and play a questions game and had a nice evening.
Today the snow is still out there and will be for quite a while. We have yet to venture out...been there, done that. UGH. It is fun the first time but not so fun after that. I am sure we will go out at least once today though. And maybe later in the week too since I am SURE school will be canceled on Monday & Tuesday...and will be easily delayed the rest of the week.
Cabin Fever at its finest!
*I WOULD post pix, but I downloaded them off my camera and picked the "delete after downloading options" as always. It shows them in a file on my computer but it also says "image unavailable" so who KNOWS what that is about. UGH

she knows it
OG is always looking for a toy at the last minute when she has to wal out the door to school. She always wants somehting she hasn't seen or played with in months. And it pops in her brain and she HAS TO have it.
Today it was a Tinkerbell wallet. I had no idea that she had a Tink wallet. She was so upset that we couldn't find it before she left from school.
On Thurs she gets picked up for carpool in the AM. The carpool Mom texted me today and said the following converstion happened in her car:
OG: I really wish I had my Tink wallet. I can't find it.
Friend: Have your Mom find it.
OG: I did, she couldn't find it.
Friend: Have your Dad find it.
OG: NO way - he doesn't know where ANYTHING is.
HA. And she speaks the truth. Funny.

Just My Mom
I lost my Mom on December 2nd. She was the most courageous, fun, strong, spirited woman I had ever known. She was my Mom and I loved her dearly. From the outside looking in, we may have seemed so close. But the truth we didn’t talk everyday. I didn’t always go visit her every week…even though she lived 10 minutes away. When I was younger but had moved out of the home on my own, we sometimes didn’t talk every week when we had a lot going on, or before I had OG. Once email came along we talked more often that way, but there was not a strong pull for us to feel that we had to speak to each other constantly. I often wondered why it was like that.
So many people I know say their Mom is/was their best friend. They talk EVERY day, several times a day. Their Mom’s knew their innermost secrets. They would not even dream of making a decision without their Mom. Mom and I weren’t like that. I don’t know if it was because I was an only child and have always been very independent or what. Because of that I have always felt I could make decisions on my own and did not often seek counsel. I think she knew that. We knew that we loved each other and that was that. She was just my Mom.
Over the past few years, as I have grown up and had a child of my own, of course we communicated and visited more…but still maybe only a few times a week. Depending on what was going on. As Mom got sicker, we of course talked more. But still not everyday. Often times this made me sad. Made me wonder what was wrong with us. Why we weren’t like all these other Moms & daughter’s I hear talking about how they are BFF’s. I often wondered if she had this feeling too.
I realize, now that she is gone…that yes she WAS just my Mom, and that is all she needed to be. She was the most wonderful person in the world to me. I know she knew I loved her. And I knew she loved me more than anything in this world. She often told me so. I was her “precious one” and she was proud of me. And I was so proud of her.
Sometimes love is all you need…and I know we had that. She was my Just My Mom and I am so lucky to have had her in my life for almost 37 years.
