Water Conservation????

A water conservation plan goes into effect for our city beginning on Monday. We will only be able to water our yard (unless you use a watering can) on our designated trash pick-up day. Luckily for the next 11 days we will be out of town. But we will probably come back to dead grass. BOO

Soooo....before the water ban becomes official, we of course had to have some fun in the sprinklers!!! This was a little teaser for our vacay to come beginning tomorrow. We are headed to FL to the beach from Friday through Tuesday at lunch, yeah...then to Disney from Tues- Saturday. We will come back home on the next Sunday...and STILL have a day of vacation on that Monday because of Memorial Day!

I am not taking my laptop on vaycay, but hubbie is...I don't think we will be able to steal any wireless from the beach, but we will probably have it at our resort at Disney. So maybe I can update you!

M-I-C...see you real soon...K-E-Y...Why? Because we like you!...M-O-U-S-E!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Ole' Mountain Air

This past weekend we went up to Blowing Rock in the mountains and stayed for a few days. It is always so wonderful to go up there and just relax. We had NOTHING to do all weekend and it was wonderful. It always seems to be at least 20 degrees cooler up there, so that was a great escape from the 99 degree temps we have been having at home. The house we stay in is my Aunt’s family’s place (thanks C&F)….it is so nice. Just a great mountain home with BEAUTIFUL views.

Tweetsie Railroad is just below at the bottom of the mountain…and like clockwork at 9:28am you can hear Tweetsie’s first whistle of the day and see the smoke from the engine. SOOO cool….he toots on and off throughout the hour, but the big toots are usually around 28 mins past the hour. So neat! You can also faintly hear the gun shots from the “train robbery” that happens during your train ride. I think if we are able to go up again before fall, OG will get a chance to go to Tweetsie.

While we were up there we also went to downtown Blowing Rock. They have such neat stores and sites and a cool kids playground. OG really loved it. We had a yummy lunch here. Her fave place seemed to be the Mast General Store…they have candy by the barrel. She really liked the candy lipstick and the long swirly sucker. YUM!

Can’t wait to go back!

The Next Wolfgang Puck!

This past weekend while we were out of town, OG got to make her first pizza! Not the first one she has ever TASTED but the first one she has ever MADE...And it was the yummy old school Chef Boyardee kind from a BOX...wow, that brought back some memories. Hubbie said he knew ahead of time we would be having those pizzas and he was not too thrilled about it. He never told me though, so I had no clue.

When we arrived at his Mom's that night and I saw those red boxes I freaked out! I was SOOO excited! I hadn't had one of those in probably 18 years!! I used to LOVE when my Mom made those. I would always eat the mini pepperonis almost all gone before the sauce got spread out. HA These were plain cheese (powdered cheese), but we...OG...added extra toppings of big pepperonis, onion, mushrooms, and real cheese, etc. Og has so much fun spreading out all of the toppings and getting into it.

Hubbie and I ate almost one whole pizza all by ourselves... we kept going back until it was all gone. MMMM, MMMM GOOD! Needless to say he was now GLAD we had those pizzas!!

When we returned home on Sunday hubbie went to the grocery to get this weeks meals...he returned with (wait for it)....a Boxed Chef Boyardee Pizza! YES...we will be having that soon. He said if it was up to him we would have had tt Sunday night again. But we decided to wait about a week or so! ;)

Good Times at the Lake!

This weekend we were able to get out of town for I think the first time all summer. With the move and OG’s bday and all we just haven’t had the time (or energy). So off we went to Roxboro to see JJ and Papa John (hubbie’s Mom & stepdad).

JJ & Papa John have a boat so we went out on that most of the day on Saturday. It was lots of fun. OG didn’t quite understand that she was allowed to pee in the lake…and she wouldn’t go in there. She WOULD however go in a red Solo cup (go figure). So we did that a few times in the front of the boat…pretty funny if you ask me. Good thing she didn’t have to go #. ICK.

The weather was great and the water was beautiful! We just rode around for hours and even stopped on the “beach” for a little swim and bathroom time. HA OG was even able to “take a little nap" as she says.

Tiny Dancer!

Well, thanks to some generous funding from the FL grandparents, OG is officially enrolled in dance class. We'll see how it goes. She starts September 10th. Her class is a beginner class for 3 & 4 year olds. You HAVE TO be potty trained to attend, so it is a good thing she is (aside from nightly accidents).
We went yesterday to finish the registration process (we pre-registered a few weeks ago). We met her teacher and got sized for shoes and outfits. One of her best little friends from school was there too...her friend was sad to be there and scared, but OG seemed ok. We'll see how she does once class starts. I have told her ahead of time that Mommy won't be in the room with her during class. When I ask her where I will be she says "in the hallway" (which is correct) and she seems fine with that.

She was a little timid when we first showed up yesterday...but I am sure many kids would be like that with a new expreience. She was so cute when trying on her tap shoes and ballet slippers. Of COURSE we HAD TO get the whole kit and kaboodle package.
