What a nice weekend! For ONCE, the weekend seemed like it lasted FOREVER! And it was soo enjoyable. We got lots of yard work done on Saturday...got some trees and bushes trimmed, got lots of mulch down in the front yard, watered flowers, cleaned house, mowed (hubbie did) etc. If I d0 say so myself our yard is looking pretty good! LOL Hubbie likes to mow on the diagonal and reverse it each week so our lawn has the cool stripes.
And on the mulch...our yard guy told us it would be about $600-700 for him to do our mulch in the front and back. We thought and thought about it and I decided we could do it ourselves. So we went to Lowes (made 3 trips) and got 45 bags of mulch at $2 each...so for a total of about $90 (plus tax) we did our whole front and side yards. AWESOME!!!! Take THAT Mister Landscaper/yard guy! We figure we can do the back for about another $100 or so....WOO HOO!! Big Savings!!
Saturday we were going to go eat with some friends at a restaurant near our house...our friends were just hanging out so we told them to come over and hang with us for a while before we went to dinner so our kids could play. So they came over, we had some beverages...then we got a call from some other friends. They were at the restaurant and it was CLOSED! It had closed at 3pm. WEIRD. So we said for them just to come on down to our house and we would order some pizzas and just hang there. So we had a little impromptu gathering. Luckily we had a nice long fresh baguette, some brie and fresh blue cheese & some olive oil and balsamic on hand. So that made for an easy yummy appetizer. We also had a ton of beer left over from New Year's so we quickly chilled that...the boys went to get 3 Large pizzas...and I made a quickie salad from some romaine we had in the fridge! SOO FUN!! Impromptu gatherings are the best...the adults had fun, the kids had fun...and that is what it is all about!
